5 Major Mistakes To Avoid When Commenting On Blogs

People comment on blogs for different reasons, either to leave a link to their website, to place value on the post or perhaps for both. Whichever the reason might be, there is need to leave a comment that will achieve that aim. However, getting over-focused on your goals might make you prone to these five major blog commenting mistakes. You should avoid them!

1. Targeting More Back-Links With Many Comments On A Single Post

Greediness has cost people a lot, if only they can be honest enough to tell. Posting more than one comment on a single post to get more links is greediness; no matter how creative you try to be with them. Whatever you want to say, organize them in one comment and make it sticky. It will work that way!

2. Commenting Around The Topic Of The Post

You may have noticed a lot of comments that are related but not directed to the topic of the post. A post on ‘traffic generation through article marketing’ should have comments directed to article marketing and not one written around the topic. This is a common mistake that many people neglect but it does put a lot of readers off-guard and can also get some confused. It is irritating most times! I suggest you comment ONLY after reading the post and be direct to topic.

3. Linking On The Text Comment

Many people have formed the habit of linking to their text comments. You can be very smart as to coin in a keyword from your site to your comment, but it is commonly noted as spamming. If people are going to click through to your site, allow them the decision. Getting those clicks via comment-text links may be considered a trick and it is not good.

4. Word And Phrasal Posts

Some of the comments I receive in my blog, Very Best Software Reviews & Coupons, read “nice work” or “great post” and then has a link on a blog. Well, I delete them at once. People use these kinds of comments to get links without caring to offer an opinion or something valuable. They don’t even care to read the post. Actually, they don’t care about anyone. I tell you what; if I am the reader, I won’t click your link either. Stay away from this! People just do not want to waste their time reading useless comments. Also, do not underestimate other readers and of course the webmasters themselves by doing cheap commenting.

5. The Use Of Keywords As Author Name

Webmasters are doing a lot of things for traffic generation these days. Some blog commentators use the ‘player’ keyword of their site as their name while commenting. Many bloggers however do not find this funny either and you should avoid doing it.
